Weekly Update 9/26

Hi everyone!
We have a fun week coming up. I am still missing payment for long sleeve shirts for two girls, please get that in ASAP.
Next, Monday is the girls Lace Up 4 Pediatric Cancer, where we show our support for those kids and families that are affected by pediatric cancer. All the girls will be asked to wear gold laces to the game on Monday, we have laces that cost $5 each, $4.00 of this sale goes directly to Go 4 the Goal to help local kids and families. Please see Karissa Cowgill before the game Monday to purchase the laces. Also, we are having a bake sale, during the games, to raise money to donate in the girls soccer team name. If you signed up to bring something to the bake sale, please have the item to the consession stand no later than 4:45pm on Monday. We will have donation buckets at the stadium for people to donate to the cause, please encourage all you know to come to the game. If you cannot attend or family members cannot attend please donate at our donation page: http://donate.go4thegoal.org/fundraise?fcid=776093

Weekly Update 9/5

HI everyone!
School starts Tuesday! First, if you ordered a long sleeve shirt, the money is due Friday September 9. Second, if you haven’t paid your participation fee that needs to be in this week to the school. The Varsity Norton game has been rescheduled, we will play Monday September 12th at Norton at 7pm. The JV will play Monday, September 19th at our home field, time TBA.
This Saturday the varsity has a game at Crestwood at 3pm, this is subject to change because the host team is having trouble with their home field schedule and the ACT is being taken earlier in the day. The home JV game is still on vs. Magnificat at 10am.
Sorry for the schedule changes, I’ve never seen so many issues with other teams changing schedules during season. I will let the varsity team know as soon as I know about the Crestwood game.

If you have any questions let me know

Weekly Update 8/29

Good morning!

We are headed into a busy week for the team! First, congrats to both teams for the wins against CCC this past week, it was a great start to the season. The upcoming week we have three games!
For those of you who ordered long sleeve shirts, I need the money in by next Friday September 9. Checks can be made out to Ballher Brand ltd.
Thursday is convocation and open house for the schools, I am not cancelling practice based on the High School doing tech handout and schedules differently this year. However, I will not be at practice Thursday because I have to be at Washington Elementary for our Open House. Coach Jordan and Coach Jared will be running practice that day.
If you have any questions please let me know.

Nike Headbands

Hi everyone!
Unfortunately I have some bad news, I just was informed that the Nike headbands that tie in the back are illegal in games according to OHSAA rules. According to the rule the “Tie in the back creates a safety issue and is not permitted to be worn in soccer” playing rule 4 section 2 states that “any knotted device may be dangerous.”
I know these headbands are very popular, I like them myself, but a violation of this rule in an official game will get me carded and you will have to remove the headband. I am sorry that it’s the rule.

Thanks.

Long Sleeve Shirt/Other info

First, Tom Miller from Ballher brand designed long sleeve warm up shirts for the girls to purchase. This is OPTIONAL and the girls get to keep the shirt. Below is the design, the girls can make them customizable with their own numbers and the stars indicate varsity letter winning years AKA if I played 3 years on varsity with 3 letters I would get 3 stars. Again this is optional, the cost is $50 for the shirt, they are extremely high quality, open to both JV and varsity. If you are interested in a shirt I will need your name, size, number and # of stars. Please email, text or add it to the sign up sheet at practice on Friday, I want all orders in by Sunday (money can come later). ASK YOUR PARENTS FIRST!!! PLEASE DO NOT COMMIT TO A SHIRT IF YOU HAVEN’T ASKED FIRST.

Second, JV and Varsity are a TEAM, the varsity is required to come for the JV games and the JV is required to stay to varsity games, this includes home games. We like the JV to watch the varsity because, ultimately, that is the level they are trying to get to. Also, for away games, if your student is traveling home with you after both games, I need a note from the parent in my hand before we leave the high school, otherwise the student must ride home on the bus. Please don’t make riding home a regular thing.
Thank you.

I got some unfortunate news yesterday that our JV scrimmage has been cancelled on Saturday and it will be a Varsity only scrimmage. The Varsity will now play at 1:00pm (the original JV time). We will still be meeting at the same time as originally posted.

JV Girls will be having practice 9-10:30am at the soccer fields Saturday morning, JV girls are welcome to travel with us after practice to support the team.

All swingers will be traveling/dressing for the Varsity match. Thank you and sorry for the inconvenience.

Weekly Update 8/1

What an awesome weekend for the girls at Strongsville! I am glad we got some competition in before the season officially began! A BIG THANK YOU TO ALL THE FRUIT, WATER, DRIVING, TENT etc. donations! We appreciate it!!
This is it, the season officially begins tomorrow, which means practice is mandatory from this point on. I expect the girls to be there and ready at least 15 minutes before the start of practice. A reminder that all parent player contracts are due tomorrow at the start of practice. Tomorrow the girls will be split up into JV and Varsity, remember the JV is an extension of the Varsity bench, these are the future Varsity players and will be treated and trained with the same expectations. Spots on Varsity and starting positions are fluid and will change based on hard work. I am carrying a very light Varsity team this year to start. If there are any questions about the teams I ask that the girls come and speak with me prior to parents, it’s their playing time/ability therefore they must talk to me themselves.

Now, for this upcoming week, practices from now on will be 4-6pm. This is getting us ready for our school schedule. Our first scrimmage is Saturday away at Woodridge @ 1pm and 3pm.

As always, call/email if you have a question.

Thanks.

I can’t believe we are coming up on the final week of July and the final week before the season officially begins, I am looking forward to it.
A few reminders, t-shirt money is DUE MONDAY the 25th, that is this Monday, the cost is $40.00 for both shirts. Also, parents player contracts are to be signed and are due into me by August 1st if your child wishes to participate in the 2016 season. Finally, remember to get physicals turned into the High School office and your online forms completed, following are names of students who are still missing their online forms as of Wednesday:

Anna B
Olivia B
Karissa C
Dom D
Sheridan R
Bri H
Amy T
Maddie B

I highly recommend everyone show up for this final week, even if you are not going to the Showcase. This gives us more opportunity to look at the girls soccer skill before dividing up the teams on August 1st. Show up and play hard.

Thank you and have a great weekend!

Hello!
The roster was announced today for the 2016 Showcase. For the girls who are attending, we are having a parent meeting on Monday, July 25, at 6:00 pm at the Horticulture pavilion. Only parents of the girls on roster will attend this meeting, but in order for your child to participate in the showcase you must attend and sign the waiver. To have a look at the showcase schedule for July 29 and 30th, go to https://www.anss.us/showcase/2016girlsschedule/

Weekly Update 7/18

What an awesome week of camp! The girls made a lot of progress in the short week and we saw the results at the alumni game on Friday! A big thank you to parents who donated water, fruit, ice cream etc. during camp week, we are very appreciative.
This upcoming week we are using two practice days, Monday and Tuesday. A reminder that shirt money is DUE July 25, so please be getting those checks or cash into Coach Sutton or I.
Monday, I will be announcing who is coming to the Adidas Showcase with us, I have an 18 spot roster, so unfortunately not everyone can attend. Again, this is not a set varsity roster, this is an opportunity for me to see certain players in a more competitive environment. Rosters will be announced August 1. Remember rosters are fluid, hard work throughout the season can earn a spot.

The first session on Monday starts at 10:00 am at the soccer fields but the girls MUST BE THERE by 9:30 am dressed and ready to go by that time, to properly warm up. I ask that the girls come ready to play and compete at a high level, this week will be crucial in choosing the team rosters. Attitude and Effort are expected this following week along with respect to the incoming coaches.

Weekly Update 7/4

Happy Fourth! As we go into this upcoming week there are a few reminders. First, Monday, July 4th is an earned day off. Please enjoy the weekend with family and friends! Again, camp waivers and money are DUE Thursday, July 7th. Make sure everything is in by that date, if you wish to participate for 2016 camp week, the Alumni Game is Friday night of camp week.

We are now in the middle of summer, it is hot no matter the time of training. This is a friendly reminder for the girls to keep hydrated all day long. They should be drinking water before, during and after training times. Also, when we are training this hard, it is NOT the time to diet. Training hard the way we do takes a lot out of your body. The girls need to eat complex carbs, protein, fruit and veggies at every meal and snack healthy throughout the day (basically what we are saying is, EAT!!)  This will prevent fatigue throughout training this summer and help muscles stay strong.
If you have any questions please contact me directly.
Thank you and have a great weekend!

Weekly Update 6/27

This week is going back to normal training times. Thank you for sticking with me with the time changes last week. A few reminders: I need camp waivers and camp money if you are participating in the 2016 camp. I highly suggest everyone attends camp, this is where we will be looking at skills and will help in deciding our rosters for the 2016 season.

Monday, we have the opportunity to do a cycling class at the Alliance YMCA. This is a good opportunity to cross train for fitness and to get out the heat for a day. It will be a lot of fun and good team bonding. We will meet Monday, June 27 at the Alliance Y in the lobby at 9:45 am. There is NO training before or after this. The cost for each player is $5.00, if you have trouble with this cost please contact me directly so I can help.

Any questions please call!
Thank you!

Adidas Showcase

As many of you already know, we will be taking one team to the Adidas showcase at the end of July (see dates on Google Calendar below), to help prepare us for competition in the 2016 season. Since we are only taking one team the roster is set for only 18 players. This selection will be set after camp week, this does not solidify JV or Varsity rosters, these players are ones we will be picking based on their ability to play at this level of competition or if we want to see more out of specific players. Team rosters will officially be set August 1, 2016 (the first day of practice). As we have stated before, JV will be seen as an extension of the varsity bench. There will be swing players this season and continuous hard work will earn positions on the Varsity squad throughout the season.
As always, if there are any questions please contact Coach Sanderson directly.
We will be working out carpool rides after the roster for Showcase is announced. If you would like to get a hotel room we can work that out.

As a result of our participation in the Adidas Showcase this year our players will have an opportunity to take part in some extra activities on an individual level.  These "clinics", as you will read, are geared towards those players who have the desire to play at the collegiate level.

I would encourage all players interested in playing at the next level to take advantage of the great opportunity and expose themselves to college play/coaching.

Thank you.

Camp Week

Now that we are approaching camp week in July, make sure that the girls are getting in their camp waiver forms and $90.00 payment to be able to participate. In terms of camp week, we are doing two sessions 10-11 am and 2-4 pm. The girls will be asked to stay from 11-2pm to eat lunch together and do team building activities. This is also to help with and ride issues we may have and prevent anyone being late to the second session. We are asking the girls bring sack lunch each day, I will provide a cooler to keep them fresh.

Thank you!!
